Rescued Kitten

On Tuesday evening, as we were pulling in our driveway, we spotted a mother cat and her kitten crossing the road. I told Jerry that I hoped they would stick around and become our "mouser cats."

When Joshua and I went outside the next morning to go to school, I could hear what sounded like a cat in distress coming from our creek area. I took Joshua to school and when I got back I could still hear the sound. I headed off towards the creek to investigate. There I found a small kitten up in a tree. I could not reach her, so I started back up to the house to get a ladder. I had not gone far when I heard another noise and she had jumped out of the tree. She then followed me all the way up to the house. I let her be hoping that the mother cat would return. I went into town for a few hours and when I returned the kitten was back up in another tree. This time too high for my ladder. I went over to Jerry's shop and borrowed one of his big trucks and parked it under the tree. I used the ladder to climb on top of the truck. Then rescued the kitten, and took it to the humane shelter (I was going to keep it, but it obviously had not mastered tree climbing and I'm sure it would not take long for Dory to chase it away.). The lady at the shelter said that since the kitten is a lover and healthy it would probably be adopted in a few days.
Joshua and I said good-bye to our little friend and went home.
